Pumpkin Spice Dulce de leche Latte

November 12, 2022

The weather is getting colder and colder, and making a hot cup of coffee is a good remedy to soothe and warm us up.

We’re still in the Fall Season so I created this delicious Pumpkin Spice Dulce de leche Latte. This creamy spiced coffee with earthy notes from pumpkin and milk caramel flavor from dulce de leche will surely warm you up.

What is Pumpkin Spice Latte?

The Pumpkin Spice Latte is a coffee drink made with a mix of traditional autumn spice flavors, steamed milk, espresso, and often sugar, topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spice.

We all know how Pumpkin Spice Latte became a thing. The beverage is most commonly associated with Starbucks, which first offered the drink in the fall of 2003, according to Wikipedia. The popular flavor has inspired a wide range of product variations that appear on a seasonal basis.

Up until today, we’re still enjoying this genius recipe and I think this will never go as long as there’s a Fall Season. Now whenever you think about Fall, you think about Starbucks’ PSL.

Hey, I love Starbucks, but let’s be honest, spending $$ on a cup of coffee every day is not very economical. Especially if you’re a PSL fanatic like me.

Making this at home is another option that will save you some bucks, plus now you can enjoy it not just during Fall but any time of the year. There are a lot of homemade recipes on the internet out there that you can try.

I for one recreated this drink with the original ingredients ( coffee, milk, spices, pumpkin, and whipped cream) but with dulce de leche sauce which made it even richer. This is seriously the creamiest, most delicious pumpkin spice latte you’ll ever try!

Here’s all you need to make the drink:

Pumpkin Puree– our star ingredient! its earthy notes give a complex flavor to the drink which makes it distinct. It also gives some sort of body to the drink because of its creamy texture. Fresh or canned, will work just as perfectly.

Espresso – not only this will add some caffeine but it also provides that strong dark flavor and a nice contrast to the creamy and milky drink.

Milk– whole milk serves as a dilutant and ties up all the ingredients together.

Dulce de leche Sauce– this caramelized milk adds not just sweetness to the drink but also creaminess. You can DIY it by cooking sweetened condensed milk or just use canned or bottled ones to save time.

Pumpkin Pie Spice and Cinnamon– they add a ton of fall flavors and a little bit of heat which makes this drink perfect for cold weather.

Whipped Cream – this will add up to the richness and creaminess of the drink.

Instructions :

Place everything in a pot except coffee and whipped cream. Mix everything until thoroughly combined and bring it to a simmer over low heat. After it’s done, use a milk frother to thicken the mixture. Add some espresso shot in a mug and pour in the pumpkin mixture.

Mix everything with a spoon and top it with a dollop of whipped cream and cinnamon powder. Serve and enjoy!
